@ Adrian: was that via mail to the PO Box?? LARC LOGs were just folded tonight. When you receive yours, look @ the label and see if it says 2010 Member" or "Complimentary" if the latter

Does anyone know the dates of the State Games this year? Will it be in mid July like last year?

Has the club been asked to assist with the Special Olympics this summer? If so, what are the dates?

Trying to arrange vacation schedule for the summer.

Hi Jim,

I saw on the calendar that the State Games were scheduled for late July. However I went to www.cornhuskerstategames.com and clicked on a few events that LARC normally helps out with and they are scheduled in late June.

As for the Special Olympics, I think that LARC may be helping out with that, I am not sure.

As for both events I will check with the Chair (and Responsible Board Member) for the Public Service Committee to see if they have more information for these events and I will get them posted to the Club Calendar as soon as I hear back. I will also let you know when this has been done.

Hey Jim, I have an update...
I found the date and time for the Cornhusker State Games Opening Ceremonies (June 25 starting at 8pm) but do not have the Schedule of Events. I am waiting to hear back about that information I am missing (and about the Special Olympics) from the Public Service Chair. I will let you know more when I get more information.

Heather: Thanks for all the work you do to keep us informed. I for one would like to know if and how our club is going to assist with the Special Olympics event in July? If were not doing much some of us would like to volunteer through the community. Any and all infor would be of help from our President Jeff...

Currently John Dale is assisting Mike Long (2010 Public Service Chair) per Mikes request. John is actively trying to make contact with the director of Communications for the Special Olympics.
As soon as I receive an update I will post the information ASAP so you and others are informed on the status.

Thanks for the inquiry.

Jim,

The dates for the Special Olympics are on the calendar (July 18-23). No word yet if LARC will be involved.

The local HOG chapter at Frontier Harley Davidson has been hooked up with the US Special Olympics for 6 to 8 weeks now. They will be escorting participants from the airplanes they arrive on (will be landing every few minutes) to their hotel/motel accomodations and other escort duties as requested. Surely the LARC will be involved in some way as there is much to be done.

Van,
Thanks for the inquiry I need to touch base with Mike Long and John Dale to see if they have heard from the Director of Communications for the Special Olympics. As of Monday they had not.

Hey Jim,

In case you have not heard yet, Mike Long announced at the Club Meeting that LARC will not be participating at the Special Olympics as a club. Though people can apply to assist at the Special Olympics individually.
